The Upside Down Building at Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, SC – Wonder Works Museum

The construction site of the new Wonder Works museum can be seen from Highway 17 Bypass. As you drive by Broadway at the Beach, the lopsided building catches eyes from miles away. The 97 foot tall upside down building has taken the place of the old Crab House restaurant. The restaurant was bulldozed and construction on the Wonder Works museum started in the fall of 2010 and is half way completed. The scheduled opening is in March.

The Wonder Works Company has 3 other Wonder Works locations. All of these locations have the signature “uprooted and upside down” buildings. The inside complements the outside of the buildings. The interior of each building is also upside down. The Wonder Works museums are all science oriented and educational as well as fun!

The yellow insulation is being put into place and the fake stone exterior should be covering that by mid-January. Once the exterior goes up, the exhibits will move in. The exhibits will include an exhibit to build your own roller coaster which you can also ride, a hurricane simulator which will blow guests away in 74 mile per hour winds, a NASA simulator which will allow guests to maneuver and land a NASA spacecraft, piloting a fighter jet, lying on beds of 3,500 nails, illusion gallery, a video arcade, laser tag, playing virtual sports and much more! New Attraction to be built at the NASCAR Café Building in Myrtle Beach – Pat Boone Family Theatre

NEW FOR 2011 !!! What’s being built at the NASCAR Café? The Pat Boone Family Theatre! Pat Boone rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s and continues to record Christian pop music. The attraction could open as early as March according to a representative of the entertainment company, Liquid Metal Holdings.

The 500 to 600 seat theatre will be open at the peak of the tourist season in Myrtle Beach, at the latest May 1, according to Glenn W. Milligan, the president of Liquid Metal Holdings. They say that there will be all sorts of shows filling the stage, and the majority of these being magic shows by Morgan Strebler, the local magician who bends metal with his mind, as well as local singing and dancing acts year round.

This central Myrtle Beach location is great for new businesses as well as vacationers looking for entertainment. Two minutes from the future Pat Boone Family Theater location is Broadway at the Beach, a great outdoor shopping, dinning and entertainment area. Earlier this year, the NASCAR structure had been rented out for the Dr. Scream’s Haunted Adventure during Halloween 2010. This building was quickly renovated on the inside to house the horror rooms, as well as the outside. No permanent renovation was done. Since then, the old building has been empty since mid-summer of 2006.

The Pat Boone Family Theater was said to open in the spring of 2010 before the location was even decided. However, the plans were set back because of the weak economy and contract problems according to Milligan.

The Liquid Metal Holdings Company based in Illinois, is in the middle of processing the permits required to start construction on the Boroughs & Chapin owned property. According to Milligan, the property’s exterior design will remain unchanged for the most part. Milligan says the theater will offer lower prices because of the smaller, more quaint, theater structure.

The Pat Boone Theater will be in competition with the Palace Theater and Legends in Concert, which has been said to move into the old Club Kryptonite building.

Haunted Houses in South Carolina

It’s that time of the year again! Everyone loves getting scared during Halloween. What better way to have fun and enjoy this holiday’s spirit then by going to one of the scariest thrills in South Carolina? South Carolina Haunted Houses are some of the best in the county. Plenty of old haunted sites from the 1700s and 1800s are still ghostly after the Civil War. The best Myrtle Beach Haunted House to go to this Halloween is Terror Under the Bridge! Terror Under the Bridge has been voted the best haunt attraction on the Grand Strand! Some say the warehouse where Terror Under the Bridge is built is truly haunted.

Out of all of the Haunted Houses in South Carolina, Terror Under the Bridge is the one to go to! The warehouse was built in the 1890’s and is located under the Main Street Bridge in downtown Conway, SC. The Ghost Hunters have been to this local warehouse and said that in was, in fact, inhabited by paranormal activity. This is the Grand Strand’s scariest Haunted House. Walk through this 8,000 square foot haunted warehouse for thrills and chills of the ghosts from the 1800s! Follow your guide through the musty dark halls and visit each room. Stay close together, and move quickly! If you are left behind, the ghosts from the 1800s may find you…

Each room is a different scene and every year the scenes change! Three of this year’s newest scenes include: “The Fireplace”, “The Dining Hall”, and “The Clown Carnival”.

Directions to Terror Under the Bridge: To get to Terror Under the Bridge, follow 501 North to Conway. Merge right to continue down 501. Do not merge left to go onto 544. When you go over the Main Street Bridge in Conway, take your first right.

Terror Under the Bridge will take place on 5 nights: Wednesday October 27^th, Thursday October 28^th, Friday October 29^th, Saturday October 30^th, Sunday (Halloween Night) October 31^st. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Terror Under the Bridge is open at 7 until 11. On Saturday and Sunday, Terror Under the Bridge is open at 7 until midnight. Admission is $10 and there are special group rates for parties of 8 or more.  On Wednesday, Thurday and Friday, $2 off for student I.D. and military I.D. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Fostering Hope, a local charity which provides goods and services to children residing in the fostering care system of Horry, Georgetown, Marion and Dillon counties of South Carolina.
