Homes for Sale in Avalon in Carolina Forest

Welcome to your guide to the homes for sale in Carolina Forest's Avalon neighborhood. A self-contained community, Carolina Forest is a unique neighborhood with a well-planned infrastructure including businesses, doctor's offices, schools, restaurants, and the full offerings of any other community.  Due to the careful planning, Carolina Forest has managed to create preservations areas for the local wildlife as well:  You can see deer, bobcat, turkeys, and even Venus flytraps!  While preserving nature, this community has created opportunities for the local humans to be wild as well.   For starters, there is an 11-acre community center, equipped with a playground, swimming pool, basketball courts, sports fields, and more.  Then, for the golf enthusiast, Carolina Forest offers a trio of golf courses, including Man O’ War Golf Club, The Wizard and The Witch – all three with gorgeous landscaping and a plethora of challenges for players.  Just 5 minutes from downtown Myrtle Beach, Avalon offers a serene lifestyle while remaining convenient to the bright lights of big-city living.

Homes For Sale

Now the fastest-growing portion of the Myrtle Beach housing market, Carolina Forest was once just a piece of rural Horry County.  This tract was known as the Buist Tract, and consisted of 30,000 acres of dense foliage and longleaf pines.  In 1937, International Paper purchased this property for business purposes.  Throughout the years the property has had various uses, from being a gunnery and bombing range during World War II, to being the Coastal Carolina Campus of the University of South Carolina after International Paper donated part of the land for its development.

In 1997, Horry County approved development of the area as a community and voted to freeze zoning rules for almost 7,000 acres of land that would accommodate around 35,000 residents.  As the development of the area took off, Carolina Forest build three schools for its residents, Carolina Forest Elementary School (1996) and Carolina Forest middle and high schools, which share a campus.

By the beginning of the millenium, Carolina Forest was home to almost 3,400 residents.  But the biggest growth happened between 2000 and 2010, when the community experienced a 500 percent growth rate.  Eventually, Carolina Forest is set to contain around 20,000 homes for over 50,000 residents.  Due to its exponential growth, the community has now added another elementary school and also a middle school.  Carolina Forest also has its own newspaper, the Carolina Forest Chronicle, and even a civic association.

Avalon in Myrtle Beach SC

Now with 21 subdivisions, known as plantations, Carolina Forest contains a variety of homes from single-family dwellings to apartments and condos.  Each plantation specifies its own restrictions, and Avalon contains only single-family homes.  Filled with lush landscaping along with fountains and man-made ponds, it is easy to see why families love living in Avalon.   The community schools are just a short walk or drive away, and there are plenty of family activities that are easily accessible. Nearby, you will find the Palace Theatre and the Alabama Theatre, as well as The Apache Pier - a popular fishing spot.

Homes in Avalon feature 3 to 5 bedrooms, and prices range from the low $100,000's all the way up to $300,000. Many of Avalon's homes come complete with garages and fireplaces, and a few of the homes also have views of the lake or the conservation area. The affordability of these homes, along with location and amenities, makes Avalon the perfect investment for a growing family.

Motivation to Move to Myrtle Beach

by Jerry Pinkas

I had a customer come in the office and she bought a house.  She had a long term goal.  She was working in an Altheimer's ward on the 3rd shift and sleeping during the day.  She wanted to move to the beach. She told us that she really appreciated eveything I did with the videos and that it kept her motivated.  It was very hard for her, becasue she had a problem seeing forward to her goal, becasue she was in a funk.
So she saw the videos, the daily listing alerts, and this was the only thing that kept her going, putting one foot in front of the other.  Many people have emailed me and messaged me and told me about things you are going through. It could be chemo, it could be divorse, it could be a lot of things.
But I want you to know you should think about the long-term goals.  Think about it - anything big in your life just didn't happen. You had to plan for it.  You had to think about it.  You had to have a goal, and every day you have to work towards that goal.
I appreciate you for letting me know, and thanking me for all that I've posted on Facebook, all of our social medias, the videos, and listing alerts.  If you're not getting the listing alerts, go ahead and sign up here.

Your Compass Points to North Myrtle Beach

by Jerry Pinkas

The winter is nipping at our heels as temperatures begin dropping little by little and, while many people enjoy the cold, there are those who prefer a warmer holiday season.  Are you looking for a warmer clime to call your home this winter?  We invite you to look North... to North Myrtle Beach Condos! Spend your winter in temperate weather and enjoy all the amenities that coastal living has to offer.  Of course, you're welcome to stay for the Spring and Summer, too.  Part of the Grand Strand, the North Myrtle Beach area is home to numerous golf courses, great restaurants, live entertainment, and more.  Plus, Myrtle Beach is nearby and has some awesome amenities for you and your family. So, leave your parkas and snow shovels behind and let North Myrtle Beach welcome you to sunny skies and the ease of beach living.

The North is Worth a Look

Known for its gorgeous beaches and quaint cottages, North Myrtle Beach Condos was founded in 1968 and offers its own unique way of living.  While the area does attract tourists, there are also many tucked-away areas for residents to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.  Myrtle Beach may be the area's main attraction, but the northern area has its own charm.  There is always something going on here, from arts and crafts festivals to live concerts and dance clubs, you are sure to enjoy the local social scene.  For a quieter experience, spend the afternoon shopping the boutiques and then go out for a delicious dinner at any of the delicious restaurants.  North Myrtle Beach has every type of cuisine imaginable including burgers and fries to French dining.  If you are looking for a restaurant with some local flavor, check out Duffy Street Seafood Shack.  A family owned and operated business, Duffy claims to have the best seafood, steak, ribs, and chicken in Myrtle Beach.  So, grab the kids and go see if they win your vote.

Golf lovers will be in paradise in North Myrtle Beach Condos!  There are currently over 100 fairways in the area, many of them designed by some of the superstars of the sport.  Golfers from all over the world come to the area to try their skill on these courses, and there are even championship events in the area. But golf is not the only way to pass the time.  The ocean also brings thousands of people to the area for fishing, boating, and even casino and riverboat cruises.  Living in North Myrtle Beach would give you convenient access to all of these amenities and more.

Why the Strand is so Grand

So what exactly is all the fuss about living in The Grand Strand?  For starters, the weather in the North Myrtle Beach Condos area is simply divine. Winter lows average in the 60's, while summer's highs are in the 80's, allowing residents to enjoy the outdoors year round.  With an average of over 200 sunny days each year, it is easy to see why so many families choose this area to call home.

The weather isn't the only factor that draws folks to The Grand Strand.  Cost of living in the North Myrtle Beach Condos area is slightly lower than the state average, with median home prices landing at around $300,000.  Homes of all varieties are available here, from entry level bungalows to luxury condos to million-dollar estates.  So, whether you are a new family who is just starting out, or you are planning to retire in style, you can find a home for your needs in North Myrtle Beach.

To top it off, you won't find a more convenient location than North Myrtle Beach Condos.  Just 30 miles away, you will find one university and two junior colleges where you can forward your education.  For the kids, North Myrtle Beach schools are in nearby Little River and include a primary, elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools.  Also nearby, The Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach is available to North Myrtle Beach Residents.

Get the Most in Coastal Heights

by Jerry Pinkas

We are excited today to bring you the newest real estate listings for sale in the Coastal Heights neighborhood of Conway,  SC. Located in Horry County along the Waccamaw River, Conway is the county seat and is part of the Myrtle Beach area.  Many of the buildings in Conway are on the National Register of Historic Places because it is one of the oldest cities in South Carolina.  Included among these historic places is the City Hall building, which was reputedly designed by Robert Mills.  Conway also played a part in the American Revolution, and small battles were fought near Kingston at Black Lake and Bear Bluff.  In fact,  the famous Francis Marion, or "Swamp Fox,"  had a camp near Kingston just acroww the Waccamaw River.  The name of the city was originally "Conwayborough" for General Robert Conway, but was changed in 1883 to Conway.

Conway may be a small town of just over 11,000 residents, but there are plenty of things to do to keep your family entertained year round.  For the golfer, Witch Links has been rated as one of the top activities in Conway.  Reviewers on TripAdvisor.com found the course to be challenging with the occasional interesting obstacle in the form of the local wildlife, an alligator!  Well-manicured greens and a friendly staff make an afternoon of golf at Witch Links a memorable and enjoyable experience.  In addition to golf, Conway offers other entertainment, including live theatre at Main Street Theatre.  There, you can see such classics as M. Butterfly for a bargain price compared to the big-city theatres.  Are you interested in historic sites? Take a tour of the L.W. Paul Living History Farm and get a glimpse of farm life in the early 1900s.  The family also sells a variety of wares, including handmade jams and jellies.  For a more modern experience, the downtown area has been revitalized and is dotted with bistros and boutiques for you to peruse.  The crowning glory of downtown is the Riverwalk, an area of fine dining that stretches along the Waccamaw River.

The Grand Strand

Living in Conway gives you access to the whole Grand Strand area, including the excitement and amenities of Myrtle Beach. A resort destination, Myrtle Beach is built for both tourists and local residents, with plenty of entertainment and all the every day basics you will need.

To start, Myrtle Beach has some of the most temperate weather you will find anywhere.  The mild winters don't require a parka, and snow is simply unheard of in the area.  In the summer, the heat will send you to the glittering beaches where you can sunbathe and relax to the sounds of the Atlantic.  For the kids, there are several nearby shops where you can rent water accessories, from surfboards to jet skis, and spend the afternoon playing in the ocean.  And don't forget to bring your camera because the sunsets on the beach are postcard perfect!

Myrtle Beach has a lot to do besides relax at the beach.  For the golfer of the family, this area is home to over 100 golf courses.  In fact, you could golf every weekend for a year and not repeat the same course twice! If you are looking to improve your game, there are several championship courses that will test your skills.  So, don't forget to pack your clubs when you come to The Grand Strand.

Shopping is also one of Myrtle Beach's specialties.  Shopaholics can spend the day browsing for bargains at Tanger outlet center, where you can find popular brand names at prices that won't empty your wallet.  If you like a more intimate environment, there are numerous boutiques as well.  Here, you can find unique gifts and collectibles, as well as handmade items and custom clothing.  Of course, for the tourist in all of us, Myrtle Beach is no stranger to kitsch.  There are seashell necklaces, goofy t-shirts, coffee mugs, and all sorts of souvenir items available everywhere you look.  So, no matter what you're searching for, you are sure to find it right here.

Known for its nightlife scene, Myrtle Beach has plenty of places to go for live entertainment.  Barefoot Landing is home to The Alabama Theatre, where you can find live music including such acts as George Jones and The Oak Ridge Boys. In addition, numerous restaurants host live music acts throughout the week.  Many of the acts are local musicians, though some come in from other cities.  All music genres are represented here in Myrtle Beach, all you have to do is look around.  Live theatre is also available in the area.  Whatever your style, an evening of dinner and a show awaits you in our beautiful city.

Beyond the amenities, Myrtle Beach offers some of the best views on the coast. Bring your camera because this area has two state parks, over 60 miles of beaches, wildlife of every color and size, and sunsets that will take your breath away.  You can always escape the hustle and bustle of the city life and relax in the quiet of nature.  The Grand Strand offers the best of both worlds, and that's one of the reasons we love living here.

Tourism is a strong contributer to the economy here.  The coast is dotted with a plethora of resorts that keep many locals gainfully employed in the food service, retail, and hospitality industries.  With an unemployment rate that is slightly lower than the national average, work is easier to find here for those who are willing. With that in mind, it is no mystery why many people choose this area as their permanent home.

If you are looking for a home in the area, Myrtle Beach has a wide variety of properties available.  Here, you will find cozy beachfront cottages, traditional-style homes, and even luxury high-rise condos.  Vacation condos are a large industry here as well, and many people start with a vacation home and end up becoming permanent residents.  For those looking for a family home, you have many neighborhoods to choose from, each with its own amenities.  Many times, these communities offer their residents access to a pool, basketball courts, and club houses.  Some of the more upscale neighborhoods even offer Intracoastal access!  Community living in Myrtle Beach is unlike any other city.  We hope you will take a look at Coastal Heights, as well as browse the other area neighborhoods on our website.  There is a neighborhood for everyone in Myrtle Beach and we can't wait to help you find yours.
